PT. Angkasa Pura I (Persero) as the manager of Airports in Eastern Indonesia has raised prices for Airport Tax at five airports. The airport tax is increased by about 80% for Domestic and about 33% for International Services. The new rates will be implemented on both domestic and international services from April 1, 2014 in four airports namely Praya International Airport Lombok, Juanda International Airport Surabaya, Sepinggan International Airport Balikpapan, Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport Makassar. However, at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali the new tax rates will be implemented from August 1, 2014. The passengers who have purchased the tickets for travel period after April 1, 2014 departing from the aforementioned airports and passengers departing from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport with travel period after August 1, 2014, will be required to pay a certain amount of difference based on the old Airport Tax and the new one at the check-in counters.
This raise in Airport tax is based on Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 1/2009 dated January 12, 2009 on Air Transportation and a letter from President Director of PT Angkasa Pura 1 (Persero) to the Minister of Transportation AP-I.1304/KB.02.02/2014/PD-B on March 20, 2014.
