In accordance with Article 57 of the Indonesian Marriage Law (Law No. 1 Year 1974) Mixed Marriage (Perkawinan Campuran) in Indonesia is defined as a marriage between two peoples who are subject to different laws, due to differences in their nationality. Thus, marriage between an Indonesian citizen (citizen), with foreign national is a Mixed Marriage (Perkawinan Campuran). However, the marriage between two Indonesian citizens of different religions, is not a mixed marriage (Perkawinan Campuran). To register the mixed marriage (Perkawinan Campuran) in Indonesia both parties must fulfill some requirements which are stated below:
Documents Required from Indonesian Bride/Groom
- Statement Letter declaring that bride/groom is currently single and never been married in the past with a stamp duty worth Rp. 6000 and signed by RT (Rukun Tetanga), RW (Rukun Warga) and Local Village Chief (Lurah Setempat).
- Cover Letter from RT (Rukun Tetanga)-RW (Rukun Warga).
- Statement letters N1, N2 and N4 from the District / Village office.
- Approval letter of marriage signed by both candidates (N3).
- Letters of Recommendation (Pindah Nikah/Numpang Nikah) if marriage is being held in non-native area.
- Photocopy of ID card (K TP), Family Register (Kartu Keluarga) / domicile certificate, Birth Certificate and Diploma, 2 pieces each.
- Photocopy of TT (Tetanus Toxoid) vaccination / immunization certificate.
- Original Divorce Certificate if the bride/groom is previously married.
- Original Death Certificate of husband/Wife in case bride/groom is Widow/Widower.
- 4 copies each of Passport Size Photograph 2 x 3cm and 3 x 4cm in blue background.
- Permission of the commander (of unit) for members of the military / police.
- Permission of the parent (N5) for groom/bride who is not yet 21 years old.
- The statement letter (approved by Local Office of Religious Affairs) from Guardian (for bride only) if the Guardian is not able to attend the ceremony.
- Certificate of Conversion if the bride and groom belong to different religion.
Documents Required from Foreinger Bride/Groom
- No Objection Certificate from Embassy/Consulate in Indonesia.
- Copy of valid Passport
- Copy of valid Visa/KITAS
- Copy of STM- Surat Tanda Melapor (Police Report Certificate) and SKSKPS- Surat Keterangan Susunan Keluarga Penduduk Sementara Orang Asing (Civil Registry Report Certificate)
- Copy of Birth Certificate
- Copy of Divorce Certificate if married previously.
- copies each of Passport Size Photograph 2 x 3cm and 3 x 4cm in blue background.
- Certificate of Conversion if the bride and groom belong to different religion.
- The statement letter from Guardian (for bride only) if the Guardian is not able to attend the ceremony.
