  1. Hi, my organisation has offered me an opportunity in jakarta and for which they are going to apply for a work permit for me.
My spouse and kid have to travel with me but the employer says because of some regulations, i have to travel first and after reaching there only visa processing for dependents can start.
Could you me with the facts as i cannot find any such regulation on indonesian embassy’s website. An early respose is highly appreciated.

    • Dear Mr. Arshad,

      Thank you for your comment.

The stay permit (KITAS) for you and your family can be done together. There is no regulation saying that you have to obtain the stay permit first and then your family will follow.

We have done the Stay Permit for foreign employees and their families together many times.

  7. I have a kitas and it will expire in 2 days. I work in kalimantan but the kitas was issued in jakarta. Due to the current lockdown regulations I’m prohibited to fly due to not having the covid vaccine. I’m not yet eligible to receive it. I’ve visited the immigration office in samarinda and they suggested our agent file for an extension online and fly to jakarta after lockdown to complete the renewal. The agent is insisting that I mail my passport to jakarta. I’m not comfortable with this. Can anyone please help me to decide which route I should take?

  9. Hi

I am a Pakistani national with an Indonesian spouse. My KITAS expired in April 2023 while I was abroad. The Indonesian Embassy in the Netherlands mentioned on their website if KITAS is expired abroad we can still apply for an extension (https://indonesia.nl/en/visa/kitas-kitap-extension/). I would like to ask if it’s possible to apply for KITAS extension while staying abroad?

    • Dear Mr. Mirza,

      Thank you for your comment.

After Covid its not possible to do the KITAS extension while staying abroad. You have to be in Indonesia for the KITAS extension.

    • Dear Mr. Chandrasekharan,

Thank you for your comment. In order to obtain 5 year 2nd home KITAS the property value should be 1 Million US Dollars or equivalent. The better way is to bring 130,000 US Dollars and deposit to an Indonesian Bank account to obtain 2nd Home KITAS.
